England is truly amazing. Where else in the world is there such diversity and choice of fabulous places to visit and holiday?

And yet, many British people have not been to some of the most beautiful rural locations or toured some of England's historic cities. It is impossible to describe the wealth and breadth of places to visit in England on one page. This is merely a snippet of information but may just tempt you to going on holiday to an unfamiliar English location.

Orienteering and mountain biking can be great fun in national parks for groups of people who may not otherwise enjoy a simple ramble.

England's seaside resorts - although less popular with families since their heyday before package holidays, England's seaside resorts have adapted to offer more sophisticated entertainment. Brighton, Southend on Sea have good shopping centres, clubs and a wide variety of restaurants for nights out. These are lively seaside towns. The fairgrounds and piers remain for anyone wishing to enjoy themselves in traditional ways but there are also casinos, theatres and cinemas. There are various seaside cottages to rent for holidays in England and the UK.

City breaks in EnglandEngland's cities are high on the list for city breaks on foreign visitors guided tours and indeed are highly worth visiting. London is No. 1 on any city break list. Few cities can compete with its wealth of famous buildings, museums, art galleries - many of which have free entry. There are theme parks on the outskirts, London Zoo, markets and the River Thames with Thameside walks from which it is possible to identify famous London landmarks.

A whole host of other English cities are good for city breaks; a city usually has a cathedral by definition and will be historic. Some of our favourite cities to visit in England for their wealth of history are: Bath, York, Gloucester, Norwich (brilliant firework displays), Portsmouth, Plymouth, Oxford and Cambridge.

Attractive towns and cities for weekend breaks in England, for clubbing combined with shopping expeditions are Chester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham and Bristol.

England's beautiful rural locations outside national parks include - the Lizard in the south of Cornwall, much of Suffolk and rural Herefordshire.
